The greatest female blues singer of her generation, Koko Taylor, will
make a very special five day appearance at Seattle's Jazz Alley on
Nov. 19th, and 21st through 24th. Discovered in Chicago by the legendary
Willie Dixon, who created her first hit "Wang Dang Doodle"
in the mid '60s for Chess Records, Koko has been a major force in
the blues ever since.
Taylor's trademark full raspy voice has delved deep into the depths
of the blues for almost 40 years. After winning a Grammy and over
20 Handy Awards, this Queen of the Blues shows no sign of slowing
down, even after a successful angioplasty last January. Koko's most
recent album is aptly titled "Royal Blue" and is her 9th
album on Chicago based Alligator Records, featuring Koko & B.B.
King. Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Johnnie Johnson and more.
Out of the norm for Jazz Alley, there will only be one set per night,
8pm for Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday, 7pm on Sunday, so
make sure you plan ahead. This is a outstanding opportunity for many
new and old blues fans to experience first hand, this truly legendary
performer in her only Northwest appearance, and within the intimate
confines of the newly remodeled Jazz Alley. Not only is there more
space for the musicians and improved sound & lights, but now Jazz
Alley can allow all ages for all sets.
