Jam For Cans

11/14 @ The Tractor, Ballard

by Phil Chesnut

The mother of all Seattle blues jams is upon us again. Sax man/producer Raven Humphres has again put together an amazing array of musical talent to entertain area blues fans for the purpose of assisting Northwest Harvest. This invitational jam boasts a lineup that reads like a who's who of Seattle's top blues musicians. Some of the names who are donating their time and talent are Duffy Bishop, Nick Vigarino, Paul Green, Eric "Two Scoops" Moore, Henry Cooper, Patti Allen, Annieville & Raven, Fat James, Mark Riley, Kathi McDonald, Mark Whitman, David Brewer, and many more. Jam for Cans also features special guests Gaye Adegbalola from Alligator Records' Saffire-Uppity Blues Woman and harmonica mogul Lee Oskar.

Amazingly, Washington ranks 2nd nationally in hunger. Northwest Harvest collects and distributes food to approximately 300 hunger programs in Washington. For the mere cover of 5 cans of food & $5, or $10, fans can enjoy a night full of great blues and, at the same time, help to eliminate hunger in our state. There will also be a raffle for "all kinds of cool stuff." This great night of blues for a very worthy cause is at the Tractor Tavern in old Ballard on Thursday, Nov. 14. The doors open at 6pm with music beginning at 6:30. For more info go to jamforcans.com.
