December 2001 Feature Story

Dave Conant

by Phil Chesnut

At press time the BTD staff was saddened to learn that on November 28th, 2001, just six days before his 60th birthday, Seattle lost another of it's favorite bluesmen. Our own favorite D-Ranger, "Vashon" Dave Conant has gone to that great blues jam in the sky. Among Dave's accolades were Hall of Fame & Lifetime Achievement Awards from the Washington Blues Society.

Admired by both fans and musicians for his superb guitar and matching vocals. From solid blues to honkey tonk, rockabilly and country. Dave was a master - remembered by fans from four decades of performing with such great NW bands as Annie Rose & The Thrillers, Red Dress, Sweet Talkin' Jones, The Dynamic Logs, Isaac Scott, The Slamhound Hunters and of course The D-Rangers.
Our condolences to his wife, Dee Dee and all of his family. A memorial is scheduled for January.
